Joseph Schmidt, 45, said this week he is running to represent New York in the House of Representatives. Joseph Schmidt was recognized along with 18 other military veterans at the National Republican Campaign Committee's March Dinner located at The Washington Hilton, Washington, DC. President George Bush provided a speech recognizing Republican military veterans and describing an in-depth analysis of his goals achieved and future aspirations for the United States of America. Congressman Darrell Issa honored each military veteran running as a candidate for the House of Representatives by calling their names, having them stand, and instituting a round of applause. The dinner also honored 53 Republican military veterans currently serving in the House of Representatives by announcing their names with applause and providing a commemorative slide show. "I am honored to be invited and noted by the National Republican Congressional Committee at the dinner, Earning Back the Majority featuring George W. Bush with hosts: Hon. John Boehner (House Republican Leader), Hon. Tom Cole (NRCC Chairman), and Hon. Darrell Issa (Dinner Chairman)," stated Schmidt. "I believe the United States must continue to support our troops and defend our freedom from international and domestic threats.
